LABS AND COMPUTING
Geotechnical Engineering Laboratory
Geotechnical engineering is the discipline within civil engineering related to the performance of soil mechanics and foundation engineering, including their subsurface conditions, determination of the physical & mechanical property of soil. Geo technical Engineering laboratory at the department level provide the practical and hands-on experience in carrying out various tests related to soil mechanics and foundation Engineering.
The laboratory is equipped with high end testing machines such as Mechanical Sieve Shaker , compression testing ,Swelling pressure CBR apparatus, Vane shear apparatus, Direct shear apparatus, Tri-axial shear apparatus, Standard Penetration Test,& Dynamic cone penetration Equipment's and etc.
Computer Aided Design of Structures
The objective of this lab is to impart practical knowledge on design and analysis of civil engineering structure. The department has civil computer applications laboratory which is equipped with 32 computers and installed with high end authorized civil designing software like STAAD.ProV8i and STAAD Foundation which helps the students to learn about Analysis & Design of Structures, Finite Element Analysis of structures.
Concrete Technology and Highway Engineering Laboratory
This Laboratory provides facilities to quench the thirst of knowledge of our students. The laboratory is equipped with instruments such as Universal testing machine, compression testing machine, cement autoclave testing machine, vibrating table, slump test apparatus, Electric Concrete Mixer, L box & U Box, Softening point, Marshall Stability test etc are used to conduct all quality control tests on cement, aggregates, concrete (Fresh and hardened) and bitumen. Students learn the standard procedure to test the quality of building materials in line with the corresponding IS codes. The lab has equipment for conducting non-destructive tests on concrete to verify quality in the post-construction phase. In addition to meeting the curriculum and consultancy requirements, the equipment in the laboratory are extensively utilized for projects by students of UG, PG and also by faculty for their research work.
